Description

Acupuncture 200: 100 Hours 

The second100-hour course series delve deeper into Advanced TCM Principles. Successful completion of these additional courses results in eligibility to sit for the American Board of Chiropractic Acupuncture Diplomate (ABCA) examination.  

 

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:

At the completion of the program, the attendee will be able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of acupuncture and TCM theory
  • Demonstrate proficiency in identifying and needling common acupuncture points.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in applying acupuncture and TCM theory to clinical complaints and conditions.
  • Confidently incorporate acupuncture in the treatment of common and complex clinical conditions.  
  • Demonstrate an understanding of advanced history taking and pulse diagnosis.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the application of Master Tung’s acupuncture
  • Demonstrate understanding of TCM and acupuncture research and case studies.

COST:

OSCA Member: $3250 per 100 Certification hours

Non-Member: $3750 per 100 certification hours

Cancelation Policy: Due to the nature of the Acupuncture Course, the OSCA will not be able to issue a refund.

Acupuncture Track: Scalp and Peripheral Neuropathy Acupuncture Techniques

 

 

Scalp Acupuncture 

Participants will learn the various forms of scalp acupuncture. 

 

  • TCM Scalp Acupuncture uses is a projection of cerebro-cortical functional areas of the scalp to treat neurological, musculoskeletal & psychological disorders. 

  • Yamamoto New Scalp Acupuncture (YNSA) is a complete acupuncture microsystem of the scalp utilizing Basic (anatomical) and Ypsilon (channel) points to affect the human body through the bioelectric and biochemical systems, enabling the patient to move toward balance & harmony.

  • Zhu Scalp Acupuncture is based on theories of TCM, including Yin-Yang, 5-Elements, Zang-Fu, Qi & Blood, and Meridian theory, but incorporates western medical theory in treatment & diagnosis.

 

Peripheral Nerve Entrapment Syndrome - suited specifically for those who have an acupuncture or dry needling background.

 

  • Peripheral Nerve Entrapments are common clinical disorders of peripheral nerves that can be either compressive or non-compressive neuropathies.  They occur at specific locations, such as where a nerve courses through fibrous tunnels, or penetrates muscles. 

 

Neurological Disorders

We will review treatment patterns for common neurological disorders that may be seen in practice.

Required Supplies:

This clean needle kit will come with you to all of your acupuncture classes.  This is known as your travel kit and will allow you to set up a clean field with all of your needed supplies for the course. 

You will need your kit day 1 of class.

 

Clean Needle Kit Contents

Acupuncture Needles:

Needle type: 1” needles for basic needling (0.20 X 30mm); 10 needles per tube or one blister pack preferred DBC Spring 10
Quantity: 2 boxes of 500 or 1 box of 1000 (depends on supplier)

 

Needle type: 3" and 4” needles for deeper needling (.75x.25mm and 100 x 25mm) - single load needles from Serein and Tai Chi

Quantity: 1 box of each
 

Needle type: 0.5" (15mm) needles for smaller body regions (15mm X 0.20) - preferred DBC Pipe Handle
Quantity: 1 box

 

Needle type: Korean Hand Needles for Auriculotherapy – preferred DBC SoojiChim
Quantity: 1 box

 

 

Additional Required Supplies (bolded items are required for day 1 of class):

One hard-sided case to contain all supplies (i.e. tackle box like – a soft case is not acceptable) 

One Sharps container - 1 qt. Sage Biohazard Container Transportable 4"x2.5"x8.75"

One box of 70% pre-packed alcohol wipes or isopropyl alcohol

2-3 rolls of 1” wet-proof tape (Kendall)

1 Pack of cotton balls

Washable makers (Crayola or otherwise), thin point (for point location) or various colored eyeliner pencils

1 Brown bag for medical waste with a “waterproof liner”

1 box Nitrile Gloves (disposable medical/surgical)

1 Box of sterile gauze pads

1 Box Bleeding Lancets (23 gauge bleeding needles)

1 Box ear seeds – less is more as they lose their adhesive over times

1 Box press needles – Seirin Pyonex .6x.15

1 Box ASP Ear needles – Classic

1 Chinese soup spoon ceramic

1 box of Moxa (Stick on Moxa - Choseikyu Ibuki Moxa) and 1 box of Pole Moxa with an extinguisher

1 Lighter

1 Hemostat

 

Optional:

1 set of silicone / glass (various sizes) / plastic cups for supping with a pneumatic pump handle

Electric stimulation unit (ITO ES130) or pointer plus
